Football in Cooma

Cooma Tigers Football Club Badge Cooma Football Club (Cooma FC) is now known as Tigers FC and was also known as Cooma Tigers in the past. The club is a semi-professional association football (also known as soccer in Australia) club and is based in Cooma. The club is affiliated with Capital Football and currently competes in Capital Football's National Premier Leagues in the ACT. The club's home ground is at Nijong Oval in Barrack Street, Cooma and consists of three grass fields and a clubhouse. The Tigers have been league champions on two occassions and in 2014 won the league premiership.

The Snowy Mountains Scheme commenced in 1949 and attracted people from all over the globe to work in the Australian Alps. In 1952 the Cooma Football Club was formed by workers from the scheme. In 2015 Cooma FC and Brindabella Blues FC entered a partnership where the U18, U20 and senior NPL programs remain based in Cooma with Cooma FC and the Brindabella Blues would run and administer U12, U14 and U16 NPL programs at Brindabella's Calwell District Playing Fields in the ACT. All Premier League teams playing under this agreement would be known as Tigers FC. The club caters for all ages of players from under six to over sixty and has over 700 registered players.
